I wanted to book a paid hotel in NYC area Thursday night, pretty flexible with the area and hotel. (Although needs to be IHG). If I wait till Wednesday to book something, will prices go down, up, or basically stay the same? Generally speaking, do hotel prices change as it gets closer to the date you want to book?

Why do primary/first/second grade girls have a morah + 1/2 assistants, while boys rebbeim have to handle 25+ rambunctious/ difficult/ behavior issues etc boys single handed??!?

So your saying we are potentially sacrificing education quality for boy for a couple of dollars?

Are you ready for a hike in your son's tuition?

A couple dollars? The boys the age that would work as an assistant are either in yeshiva or not meant to be in a classroom. The next step up is a married man with a wife/family to support.
I'm not who you think I am.

If assistants are necessary for early grade girls, they are just as necessary for boys.
Let's first worry about the chinuch. No?

There are plenty of yungerlight who want to be rebbeim. This should be required, mandatory two years of rebbey assistant work before becoming a full Rebbe.
12$ an hour is more than a kollel check.

Gimme a break. You find 25 qualified people aspiring to be rabbeim that are willing to do the job of a seminary girl for $12 an hour, and we'll talk.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Huh? Mandatory training. ... There will be ppl lining up in Lakewood if this becomes a thing.
It's not some silly job. It is assisting in kriyah , discipline etc etc.
And btw, the female assistants in Lakewood are not $12 an hour, and definitely not necessarily seminary girls.

In your dreams!!! You seem to be very unfamiliar with the system. By boys, assistant = shlak shames. Period.

The difference in classroom settings in boys vs. girls will give you a better understanding. I will start by quoting someone who explained the trend in the education changes that are going on recently (Common Core etc.):
Quote
Education has gone from the teacher being;

a sage on the stage
to
the guide on the side.
This explains it very well in one line. While girls' schools had this approach for years (and increasingly with this trend) with all their activities, hand-on learning programs etc etc, there was very much room, and even a great necessity for assistants. Even more so, anyone right out of school was just right for the job and was even more wallet friendly for the school than their married counterparts.

Whereas, in boys' yeshivos the sage never left the stage. It's all about a lecture and chazzara and back to the lecture. Anything else is out the window. Hence, by boys, assistant = shlak shames. Period.

The only thing you may want to say is that some boys need help for chazzara, that's where the flood of private tutors comes into place. (IMO this was taken way out proportion. While many private tutors really do a phenomenal job, most just waste the kids' time, while the student would've been gaining far far more had he stayed in class. Part of a tutors job is to also know when NOT to pull the kid out of class. But don't get me started on the topic...  ::) I've got a whole lot to say about it...  >:( )

Is there a way to block a specific persons posts from showing up in a conversation on DDF?
