Do Jews lose common sense during holidays?  :)

Disclaimer: This was for the Trump and NFL threads with the recent banter.
For the Jews it is not the Holidays now. That was in September/October.

Those were the high holidays. Now we're in the middle of the low holidays. למטה מעשרה טפחים

Not going to argue with an expert on this. I thought Hanukkah would be consider a holiday.

At this point, no difference. We already established that @ChaimMoskowitz wasn't referring to this tragedy, so as far as this conversation is concerned, it's irrelevant.

I see a lot of comments that Rubashkin being free is a miracle. Do they really mean/believe that?

miracle: a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency

Miracle pretty much = something unprecedented occurring. That pretty much sums up this commute. Us Jews believe that everything in the world is the work of a divine source.

It's not exactly oil burning for 8 days, but it is an EXTREMELY unusual move for a president seemingly out of the blue.

That makes more sense.

From the little I have learned here that is not accurate. It seems they believe this only for good things.

I think we will find out this wasn't out of the blue. As far as the oil I will leave that one alone.  ;)

That miracles are only for good things or that only good things have divine providence?

There are levels in belief, and obviously we strive for the highest level of belief (details of which are out of the realm of this discussion). Some are at a higher level than others. I try to pray to the One Above at least once a day that he should help me believe that even the seemingly not-good occurrences are in reality good.
