The file is being uploaded with a form. I believe it is a Google form, but that can be changed if need be.Would not be able to ask the user to change the filename when they upload, it's a very broad user base, many of whom are technologically inept and already struggle with the basics of uploading a file.
I think the question was if whatever form technology you are using could do the renaming.
I'm pretty sure you could do this with Zapier. Are you familiar with it at all?I'm looking at the Google Drive actions and I don't se one for renaming files but there is a Copy File action which I believe lets you set a new file name. So you'd need a folder for the original files and then a new folder for the renamed files. You could have the zap run when a new line is added to the spreadsheet and use the info from that row to set the new file name.
it's good to be a Lubavitcher
Good luck! Let me know if you need any tips.
Don't think I'll be able to learn Zapier today 😂
Seems like there might be an app for ithttps://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/form_uploads_manager/756774028129I know nothing about it, but it seems to handle exactly what you need
Why does the title of Random Questions end with a period and not a question mark?
Is there an "random tech questions" thread? Or maybe this belongs in the Excel questions thread? If one is setting up a form for people to upload files, is there a way to have the file name changed when it is downloaded, for example making the file name the name of the person who is submitting the form?
Because the title is a statement rather than a question.
Is this a random question.
Echo chambers are boring and don't contribute much to deeper thinking and understanding!
How is it possible to have a discussion about something when you have a totally different meaning of what is being discussed than the other person?
Impossible. You have to define your meaning and see if the other person is willing to discuss it using your definition or have the other person define it and use that definition for all purposes in the conversation, make sure not to slip back into your definition.
