This is the obvious one, even though technically I'm home more now than when I worked at B&H.

The other hardest thing is definitely the food - planning, preparing, dealing with missed baggage, logistics of cooling/freezing/heating while switching between multiple locations, organizing and serving, making sure there's always something for everyone, and a million other things. When we come back from a full day, everyone gets to relax but no matter how tired I am I have to deal with dinner now... Food is a 24/7 chore. (Again, not complaining. That's what I'm here to do...)

And of course unforseen circumstances. Sometimes they're minor and sometimes they can turn an entire trip upside down lol.

I can't even imagine this. I have a hard enough time when traveling short distances with my (relatively) small family. I do not have the emotional fortitude to deal with this - kol hakavod.

But to answer your question short and to the point, people give out lots of singles for charity and to extended family members on Purim and many like to give crisp new bills. Nothing more complicated than that.

Most people give plenty more to specific people/causes. But there are thousands of people collecting all over the streets and door to door. You'll go bankrupt at a single red light if you give more than a dollar to every kid.

The subtext you weren't looking for is that certain aspects of the story may have happened in a few different ways. There's lots of commentary on finer details, including conflicting accounts. However, the main blow-by-blow detail as recorded in Esther is believed to have happened.

While the story appears in one book as a continuous story, if one pays attention to the dates mentioned it stretched over approximately 10 years.

I was told by a chase employee that the Lakewood branch fills the safe to the to top each day before Purim and each day they are cleaned out by the end of the day. Then in the week after the safe is full by the end of each day from tzedakos depositing them back.

Not only singles.

And this happens for over 2 weeks before. That is how many bills we are dealing with from just one bank.
