Could one even ask if doing the 401k/Roth is worth it or is it totally depending on the situations? Are there any basic rules of what would be worth it and what wouldn’t?

You can't go wrong when they match. Of course all matching levels are different. Mine was a max of 5% match.

In general, it would be foolish to leave match money on the table (i.e. Not take money that's available to you) but like every financial decision, it is just one piece of a puzzle. One needs to see what else is going on

Nothing more then normal, if the group is muted it will override that and show an @ symbol to the left of the number of unread messages.
