How do you write a bas mitzvah speech? I'm at a total loss.
If you don't care why would you comment?

I'm assuming you mean for the bar mitzva boy.

IINM, there are people who you can hire to do it for you, though you may not need it. You can also contact a relative or friend and "borrow" what they prepared.

I worked with her on a devar Torah. We used it for her message / lesson for the crowd (achdus, emunah, etc).  We ended with hakaras hatov and brachos for all.
It's like all other light speeches.

Bar mitzvah speeches should be the same.

That's what I was thinking, I'll work on it together with her. For now I am lacking inspiration.

  • Location: As always, silence is NOT an admission of agreement on DDF. It just means that people lack the stamina to keep on arguing with made up "facts", illogical arguments, deceiving statements, nasty and degrading comments, and fuzzy math. - @yelped

Who cares where it came from? The like is for how it was used.

It really depends a lot on what types of speeches they give in your community.

Who is she named after?

A story about that person, and a lesson that the bas mitzva girl learned from her life

Talmud:
 חמרא למריה טיבותא לשקייה
[while the] wine belongs to the master, thanks is given to the waiter.

But, the mishna also says:
אמר רבי אלעזר א"ר חנינא כל האומר דבר בשם אומרו מביא גאולה לעולם
R' Elazar said in the name of R' Chanina, "Whoever  says something in the name of the person who said it brings redemption to the world."

So, you should like the post, but they should have quoted the origin.

The Gemara brings חמרא למריה טיבותא לשקייה to be the common practice although it might not be the appropriate practice.

When Rabbi Yaakov Menken wrote a few days ago that Biden "called to make [our]
religious practices a violation of American statute," what was he talking about?
