Got an email my points are expiring. I read here that you can extend the expiration by booking a room with points and then canceling. Can someone confirm that? Is there any other way?

I got that email today as well, they also mentioned if I use points I can extend the lifetime of the remaining points, so I got magazine subscription for 1,400 points
