That's a good example of when this would be useful, but it's definitely not something that I'm like OH NO, I WISH I HAD A KOSHER SWITCH.
You obviously never left your kid's bedroom light on by accident...
This is where my services come in. At night I will do a walk through. You don't need to say anything. I know what to do.  ;)
I just found a new supply of forks!

My point is not that there are no scenarios when it would be nice to turn on a light, my point is that we've been just fine living without being able to turn on the lights (and often we have great memories from those Shabbosim in the dark). So what's the big deal? Nu, the lights are off. Ok.

Are you a designated Shabbos Goy for anyone? (Do you live near Jews?)

Reminds me of a story related by R' Refoel (Folye) Kahan (father of R' Yoel Kahan) who spent quite a few years on "vacation" in the far north of Soviet Russia.

At one point he was assigned to stay in the house of one of the natives. Being in a place where electricity was unheard of, every evening his host would light 2 oil lamps, one for himself and one for his guest.

On Friday night after the host lit the 2 lamps R' Folye asked him if they could switch, explaining that due to Shabbos he couldn't use the lamp the host lit for him, however the lamp that the host lit for himself he had no problem using. The host got a little confused by the Halachic talk but he agreed to the switch.

The next week the host lit the 2 lamps, and promptly proceeded to switch them, imagine his confusion when this time R' Folye told him that this week he'd rather keep his lamp...

on a side note:
R' Manis Friedman is a Posek? he might know enough to be, but he clearly isn't practicing as one, and reading his message, he clearly wasn't intending to be.
(at the same time, with all due respect to רשד"ב לוין he isn't a Rov either, though clearly more 'halachist' than Manis. and I don't think he's Israeli...)

for someone to be so clueless to the nuances of the Charedi world as to 'honestly misunderstand' these encouragements as 'endorsement' (or for that matter to consider that video appropriate), it would be shocking for that same person to also have the extensive understanding to the nuances of Halacha to successfully engineer a truly 'kosher' switch (assuming it could exist).

and if the mistake was not innocent, is that who I want to entrust my Shabbos-observance to?

Can one add or remove pins from a timer on shabbos ?  Would that be nore like the kosher switch ?
See Shemiras Shabbos, writes if you move the pins to delay the melacha its mutar. depends on what kindof pins though. ע"ש

While eh may not be an acting Posek, I would deffer to him in matters of Shulchan Aruch Harav over 90% of acting Rabbanim...

Then you probably missed this commentary.  :)
HAVE YOU ALL LOST YOUR MIND? Kosher switch? This is nothing but a scam, sham, trick, loophole or a hundred other things. One thing it is not is "kosher". This is not some CC T&C's you are trying to justify. Who do you think you are fooling here? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your creator? Good luck with that one.
