+1 either it's ok or it's not.

Perhaps "Baal Nefesh Yachmir."

If this gets moved to JS everyone be forewarned you will need a good supply of popcorn. Until then I will not post in this thread anymore.
If not for the fact that I try not to get involved in these ridiculous debates online, I would do the same.

Perhaps "Baal Nefesh Yachmir."

What does that mean?  It's praiseworthy to not do something that's mutar to do?

though basing it of this. ..
Why?  If it's mutar, it's mutar, no?
It seems you run on a different frequency than me

To be honest, I don't understand their defense. It seems clear that Rabbi Neuwirth later qualified his original haskama, no?

We all run on different frequencies, that's what makes the human race so special.  How boring would it be if we were all the same? CM would never get to eat any popcorn...

Alos, Rabbi Olbaum, gave a partial endorsement...doesn't seem to think its shabbosdik either
I'm confused by that.  If he's a big enough posek (and I believe he is) to give a haskama on a completely revolutionary technology, the use of which is a matter of life and karais, why can't he weigh in on the spirit of Shabbos question? Why pass that one off to the LORs?
If you don't care why would you comment?

Maybe because that varies from person to person and case to case?

Is it not? There's that whole random thing thrown in but if you wait long enough (and by long enough I mean less than a minute or 2) the thing will definitely turn on.

Let's say there's a 75% chance the circuit catches, and it reattempts every 5 seconds. I don't that would be a psik reish just because the odds are it will turn on pretty quickly.  It's possible that it will never turn on.

Regardless I don't think the whole Psik Reisha thing is relevant if it's Nichah Ley...

Is that true?  I didn't see that mentioned.  That would be really annoying.

Is it possible that you will flip a coin 1,000 times and never get heads?

I don't see why not, the odds on each flip are 50/50 but overall there is no guarantee it'll ever land on heads.

Excellent, I'll give you 1,000 to 1 odds, so you'll earn $1,000 for every $1 you put up to bet, deal?

It's also possible that you will turn on a regular light switch and the light won't go on. Is it probable? Not in the least an something tells me that in this Shabbos Switch the probablity of the light not going on within a few seconds is low enough to avoid this:
That would be really annoying.
