Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Flying with infant
« on: January 23, 2011, 04:22:38 AM »
Any clue if an infant in lap earns miles?

It looks like my kid will fly RT TLV-NYC 3x by the time he's 4 mos.

Also do you know how much luggage an infant can take on a gold reservation? We will be flying OS and LX for 2 of the flights.

Infant or child? If its a child then its correct, as a child is also allowed 2 bags. So its 3 for him, 2 for wife and 2 for child. With a inf. I cant think they would let it go, if yes he is very lucky

He got very, very lucky.
When I moved from Israel bach to LX, I came to the airport with 9 bags of 30 Kg. I had about 292 Kg. with me. I expected to pay alot of money but thats part of moving. As I was only traveling to LX, I was on the weight concept. 40 Kg for me, 20 for my wife and 20 Kg for our 2 infants. The lady checked all in and gave me the boarding passes, the receipts said 9/292. When I expcted to hear 2000 Dollars, she said have a safe flight. Until today, I cant explain it... it was a "nes". 400 pounds overweight...

Depends on the carrier.
AC, CO, UA, and US are for everyone.
TG says it's only for the *G member but didn't blink when I checked in the *G amount for both my wife (nebach a *S) and I.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I was talking about LX and LH, they are very strict. It makes sense, if a guy flies with 6 people in the same booking so they should let 7 extra pieces?
