Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

New to flying with a baby.

Turkish is charging me $92 for "infant - lap" (NYC>TLV).

Does that mean I will get a bassinet?

You need to call and see if they have on that flight and if its available and if your child isn't to old/big for it

ua chalks everything to usual wear... They broke both a brand new stroller and carseat within two weekss for me. No compensation. I strongly suggest a protective carrier bag

Jetblue is asking $46.60 for taxes for an infant to Nassau, Bahamas,anyway around it? if add at the airport will they still charge this?

Not an infant/baby question but I didn't want to start a new thread.
I'll be flying with my wife and my 5 and almost 3 year old. Both will be in car seats on the plane.  We are entertaining flying HPN-MCO with a stopover in DCA currently estimated at 35 minutes. Generally the HPN-DCA leg is about 20 minutes early but we cannot count on that.
Is 35 minutes enough time to unload and get to other flight? I;ve never been to DCA so I don't know how far the gate potentially is.
Since it is one ticket I assume the luggage will be moved by the airline...

Flying from LGA-YUL now with AA and booked with Avios. When I got to airport and checked in, they said there's a ~$17 charge for the infant (tax). Is this typical? I was under the impression that it was totally free.

Need some advice. Flying at the end of december with my wife and my baby who will be 9 months at that point. We are booked in BA J and got my baby a seat (thanks to that ridiculous $450 deal). I onyl have the keyfit 30 car seat which is rear facing only. According to BA's website they only allow forward facing car seats. Is this true???

Buy the car seat you will want a few months later. It'll be good enough for a plane ride at 9 months.

Just buy the Cosco Scenera from Walmart. $39. And it'll be a good travel car seat anyways
