Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Just book the tickets with different birth dates, the information is irrelevant

Can I really turn my four year old into a fourteen year old? Won't they see it in the secure data? Is there any way to do it straight - I'm a little too nervous to play with this. Last thing I want is to fly back to pick them up:)

Nothing to do with being straight in my opinion. If you would lie about his age to avoid the unaccompanied minor fee, that would be a yashrus issue. Here he's flying with an adult, it just won't ticket this way

Why are people so reluctant to take a baby on vacation? Sure, the flight will be less enjoyable and you may not to do some of the activities that you would have liked to, but the memories of taking a family trip can outweigh all of that...

after my last vacation 1.5 year old who was cranky the entire time (albeit sick the first 2 days) and didn't want to do anything except sit in his stroller or car seat I need a vacation from vacationing.

We just took our 4 month old to the Caymans. Sure, she won't remember anything but it was memorable for us.

A 4 month old ain't a 1.5 year old toddler. I'll bring a class full of 4 month olds before a toddler.

Overnight flight with a lap child who's close to being two.

Is the bassinet even going to be worth anything at this age?
If you're referring to the airlines bassinet, they won't give it to you

I get that they're leagues apart for the flight, but I feel like as the kid gets older, the memories of the actual vacation get better because the kid is actually somewhat aware of what's going on.

Still can be hell to get there and back home which dampens lots of the excitement

And mine will be 2. Let's see who's quieter if we end up on the same flight :)

I always take kid. Vacation is spending time with my family. Going somewhere nice is a bonus.

Also, lap infant vs own seat in own car seat is night and day. If you can spring for the extra seat, it can really help.

Kid slept from when they turned the lights off until they turned them back on.

There's a new product on the market called "Doona" it's basically a one piece snap n go, the wheels fold up under the cat seat. It's an amazing product! My wife loves it!
Do you personally have the Doona?
Edit: apparently you do

We just got it, the wife is very happy with it! Extremely convenient, and very easy to use, wheels very well. It weighs 16 lbs which is a bit heavier than the typical snap n go.
How much did you get if for? Still holding up? Still happy with it?

Got it as a baby present, I think it sells for about $500 in the Lakewood stores.

Held up really well so far, the entire cloth is removable and is washable.

I would say it's probably from the top 10 most convenient products invented. (Especially for air travel)

I would buy it in Israel for around that price but I'm worried about my kid growing out of it way to soon. Already 15 months

My kid is 10 months, but probably around the size of a normal 15 month old, and still fits, don't know for how much longer though.
