Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Got it as a baby present, I think it sells for about $500 in the Lakewood stores.

Held up really well so far, the entire cloth is removable and is washable.

I would say it's probably from the top 10 most convenient products invented. (Especially for air travel)
Any airlines ever gave you any issues with it? Any issues fitting it?

Nope, never. It's really the size of a regular car seat.

They usually just have a hard time believing you that's it's a car seat, until you actually show them how it works.

For reference, airlines I've flown with it:
US J
OS J
EY F
EY J
RJ J

Aside from air travel, it's unbelievably convenient as a regular car seat as well.

Booked UA NYC-LAX. Prior to booking a phone rep said I can request a bassinet on these specific flights and there would be no extra charge. Now rep says for one way he can't get at all and the other way they would charge for EC. What do I do? It's for a pax with an infant.

We just took our 4 month old to the Caymans. Sure, she won't remember anything but it was memorable for us.
It was more memorable, because you had your kid with you ?!

I get that they're leagues apart for the flight, but I feel like as the kid gets older, the memories of the actual vacation get better because the kid is actually somewhat aware of what's going on.
Good point, but
A 4 month old ain't a 1.5 year old toddler. I'll bring a class full of 4 month olds before a toddler.
There is no way I can see my kid at 1.6 years old, sitting still throughout a 14 hour flight to Asia.
Kid's way to active for that, and he won't sleep for the whole flight as well.
When he was 5 months, we took him to Puerto Rico, and it was a mechaya. He slept through the whole short flight.
6 months old he went to Israel with a stopover, and was also pretty good, since he didn't have the ability to crawl yet, he was content to be held etc.

I just went to Israel with a 16 month baby.  Had own seat with car seat.

Way there he slept most of way since it was night.

Way back was a bit worse.  Spent good portion of flight walking up adn down aisles.  Watched a bit of barney (from laptop with sound on since he won't wear headphones), but couldn't hold attention with all the stuff going on.  Was a wreck by the end, overtired, etc.

On a long haul flight - I'd invite 100 snakes first

If there is an extra seat next to me, any chance they will let me bring a car seat on for free?

First time booking a infant on a seat (not on lap).
Called united they said I just book a full fare mile ticket through the airline I'm booking for myself (Agean in this case) even though I'm flying on united does this make sense?
