Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

I don't think they'll let you put a car seat as a single at the window. IF they let you put in a car seat, it would be as one of the two middle seats. Would it matter at that point for the extra seat to be the same row?
That was my question. Because there's such a separation between rows 5 and 6 I thought maybe being all in row 5 may be easier, though I wasn't sure. What do you think?

Probably will be easier. Though if you don't get the extra seat you'll want to be further from people.
Don't think it will really make that much of a difference either way
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

That's what I was thinking. I do imagine that if there are any empty seats it'll be the windows in row 5 though since they have misaligned windows. I think for now we'll just keep the seats we have.

We're travelling with a toddler (almost 5) and are thinking of letting her ride through the airport on a scooter. Anyone have any experience doing such a thing?

Do you need to book a ticket for a two month old or can you just show up at the gate with him as though he is a piece of luggage?

Not domestically (US), just show up. Other countries change for domestic lap infants. International travel requires a ticket. While you can buy it at the airport (just like your own ticket), it's a lot cheaper in advance.

I think so, but some have reduced weight allowances for infants.

People get all riled up about car seats and checking them - what's funny is that they don't know that you can use car seats after a minor crash (yes, check the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration). Even better I don't understand how they think their car seats got to their house - they're shipped at some point, and I guarantee you they get into some jostling there. I'm pretty sure they can handle the baggage carrier walking it down the gate stairs and tossing it into the belly of the plane.

Put it in the overhead. I've only not been able to make it fit on one tiny domestic plane (most planes with some maneuvering you can get it to fit), but that was with a maxi cosi-probably depends on the brand.
A. They're properly packed from the factory so that it won't get damaged in transit.
B. Clearly you've never watched what happens to gate checked bags. It's thrown around like junk. And your seat is completely unprotected.
Does that mean it's damaged? I have no clue, but plenty of smart people have said that it does. Worth the risk of having hairline cracks in the seat?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I have a NIB baby monitor (that I bought on a DDMS deal) that I want to bring to my brother.  Can I take through security at airport?

Something camera-related.  Not sure.  I don't ever fly with camera/videoplayer, so wasn't sure if there were special restrictions.

No issue.
