Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Any experience with bassinets on UA J on:

16 row PS 752 (Seatguru says row 1 and 5, agent says none)
764 (UA.com says yes agent says none)

Are the bassinets stored onboard and provided you're in the right seat you get it? Or do they have to bring them on? Because then it could get tricky if the agents aren't ordering them.

called AC, got no help from an agent getting into a bassinet row.

called right back and got a friendly agent who agreed to put 1 pax w/ infant into the preferred row for free. Prior, I could make any changes until check in as it wasn't an AC ticket.

After the switch he made, I seemingly had full access online and was able to select the seat next to pax #1 for 100 CAD.

Only question remains: were now in row 31 (middle section), seat guru has only 4 bassinet rows 12, and 18 b,e and j. Is 31 e also a bassinet?

Seat guru classifies it as an exit row, not bassinet...should I try and get moved into row 18? 31 seems like a better option as its the middle row, and 18 only has a side row left with someone sitting already in window seat. TIA

Seat guru isn't always accurate regarding bassinet seats. Ask the airline directly which rows ate bassinet seats.

thx

i spoke with AC, on the 787 for AC 84, only 18E and 31E have bassinets despite what seatguru displays (as you pointed out)

so seems like we got lucky and are all set

What's the weight limit for AC's basinet?

ETA: it's 25 pounds, and only if infant can't sit up on their own

I know but do they weigh the baby? test it to sit up?

once you've gotten the actual seat confirmed though, at least you have that row and stand a chance...

Its a bit late but good info regardless.

Seats 1 A/B and 5 A/B have a built in bassinet so no need to request one as long as you are seated in those seats.

Its very small and can only fit a baby up to 6-12 months.

after sukkos

its AC so they can do anything but if you have the seats (especially if you paid) at most they can withhold the bassinet itself, they can't forcibly reseat you IMHO

flew on spirit last week(return leg) and airline did not allow us to bring our car seat into the plane even though we paid for the seat.  They said there was no sticker on the car seat approving it for aviation.  interestingly on the first leg of the trip they did not say anything and we used it.  Did Spirit handle this correctly?

First time no (FA prob didn't care to check), second time yes (if there was in fact no sticker).

no sticker but does that mean the car seat is not approved for flights?

What's your proof that it is?

Proof would be the sticker..

Assuming you bought it within the past few years in the US, I'm sure it did have the sticker and you just didn't know where it is. What kind is it, and how old?

Yes.
