Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Assuming you bought it within the past few years in the US, I'm sure it did have the sticker and you just didn't know where it is. What kind is it, and how old?

looked all over could not find sticker.   maybe stiker fell off? Car seat is more than 5 years old.

What's your proof that it is?

Proof would be the sticker..

I assumed(maybe incorrectly) that if they are approved for motor vehicles than they are also approved for aviation? if true what car seat is not approved for what it was intended to used for, ie. inside cars!?

Some are just approved for motor vehicles, not aircraft.

My friend booked a round trip ticket for his child that was under 2 when he left JFK. On the return from TLV they made him purchase a ticket as the child became 2. He gave all the birthdate info when he booked the flight and no mention that the age miogth be a problem for the return. Any ideas how to handle this situation. Thanks

Which airline? Every one has a different policy.

Maybe fell off. I think you're supposed to replace car seat already anyway.

really? Sounds weird.

I'm flying on AF with my son but he'll be returning with my in-laws, is their a special permission form that AF/any airline requires for him to return with them?

What's DL's rule with flying domestic on award ticket with a lap infant? Same as AA that I could add infant to reservation at the check-in counter?

car seats expire, or are no longer deemed safe 6 years after they are manafactured.
