Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Will JetBlue allow a doona in the window seat?
I have defiantly taken a doona (X2) on many domestic flights, trying to remember if any were on B6

If it's on the 787, then the Business class seats aren't wide enough for a car seat...
Nonsense.

I booked an under 2 year old a business class seat on Elal with Qantas (will be 20 - 21 months old at time of flying).  Not sure they allow car seats in those seats, but if they do, should I bring it or rather just lay the seat down flat and put baby to sleep in it like a bed/crib?  It's the night flight so I'm hoping the kid will sleep a good portion of it.
El Al 787 seats have airbag seatbelts. Not likely to work with a carseat.

Thanks. I think he will sleep better laying down anyway.

Nonsense.

Was wondering how that would even make sense. If it fits in an economy seat which I've done already then it surely fits in business. But anyway I think I'll skip it. Thanks again.

it's different. Car seat means you pay for another ticket, but are guaranteed a seat for your baby
Bassinet is with 10% infant fare, is subject to availabilty, and might mean more room int he bulkhead

I booked with Qantas and chose the bulkhead seats (PE).
Once the baby comes around I'll call up to add (Qantas only charges the tax).

Hope that will work.

Bassinet is only for small infants. Also it isn't safe.

I'm 4/4 in UA Polaris, though on one leg I had to guilt trip the FA.

If you booked a window seat and you have an empty seat next to you, you can put your car seat there without paying (infant ticket in the USA). I’ve done it multiple times with delta and Bh so far it always work. If it’s a full flight you might want to get a window seat in the back and usually the last seats to be taken are the back middle.

We use the doona and it’s been really great. Only thing is that (at least won’t the planes we had with delta) the doona doesn’t fit in the aisle in economy so you have to carry it to your seat

This works if you book economy. I booked business and I'm not having 21 month old in my lap for that many hours, ain't gonna work for me. So I splurged by getting him his own seat. But honestly I feel like I got a bargain with the 44% Amex bonus.

Do 2+ and add a year to the DOB. No problem.

Its been a loooong time since I traveled with an infant:)
Domestic....

1) Do I have to notify gate that i have infant/lap child or can I just board ? (No luggage)
2) Will gate check if extra available seat to allow me to bring car seat on airplane, (they used to always allow , just dunno if things changed?
