Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links:

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

Before transferring miles to Avianca to book biz ticket on Austrian (ORD-TLV), I wanted to find out how much lap child would cost.  Avianca says I need to book lap child thru Austrian; Austrian says I need to book it thru Avianca.  Neither willing to tell me the cost, either.  Anyone experience a similar issue and have a workaround to get an infant booked?  Thanks!

Usually booked by ticketing airline, in this case avianca
Option 1 HUCA
Option 2 conference call 2 airlines and make them work it out
Option 3 book a dummy revenue ticket with infant and have them attach infant to award reservation

YMMV. It has airbag seatbelts, so even if the FA does allow it with a seatbelt extender, it may be difficult to properly secure a carseat. An infant carseat would be impossible.

Does anyone have experience with bringing an infant car seat on empty seat next to you for infant lap in Europe (Alitalia, Air Europa & Iberia specifically)?

We do it with Delta all the time. Hopefully will work there too

Just spotted a car seat in mint on jet blue. Asked the FA and they confirmed that they allow car seats by the window seats in mint.

This is a txt conversation I had with jet blue:
Me:Are infant car seats allowed in a321 mint seat?
JB Rep: We will allow a car seat in our Mint seating as long as it meets the FAA requirements. A seatbelt extension may be required and can be given to you by our inflight crewmembers.
Me: So if the infant seat is FAA approved I should have no problem in a mint seat correct?
JB Rep: Yes, as long as the car seat/restraint system meets FAA requirements. A seat belt extension may be required in order to deactivate airbags.

You can't secure an infant car seat with a seatbelt extender AFAIK.
