Flying with infant

I have a flight scheduled in 4 weeks in mint and I want to take my baby in a doona. I was on jet blue last week and saw someone  using a car seat in mint with an extender. I discussed it with the FA during the flight and everything seems as it could work perfectly.

You can't secure an infant car seat with a seatbelt extender AFAIK.

I booked 3 basic economy seats on AA for me, my wife and my infant. I know they'll try to seat us together, (it's ahead in advance too) I just wonder if I will able to see our seat location ahead of the flight?

Got a interesting question. I booked a flight to israel through virgin atlantic on chase points. I later realized I needed to add a infant to the ticket. I therefore called virgin atlantic fully expecting to pay 10% of one ticket.

So in this case the 1 passenger cost 738.96 so I expected to pay $73.8.
However the rep told me that it was 10% if the base fare of the flight plus taxes.

So the breakdown of my ticket was
 $738.96
Flight $240.00 + Taxes & Fees $498.96

However my sons ticket they told me was 29$ (as the base fare went up -i called 2 weeks after i booked mine) plus 150$ for taxes??
The rep couldn’t answer my confusion so i just paid as i had to add my son to the ticket.

That's normal. One of the Taxes/Fees the infant is paying is a $60 UK passenger facility fee (UB if you look at the tax breakdown).

Will the airline give a problem if I try to change a domestic infant name on a ticket?

Oh didn't know that, and I'm flying this week with an infant. I used to shlep along the birth certificate every time..

I’m on Virgin Atlantic jfk-lhr final destination tlv, we came with the doona and went to our seat, an agent came and started asking about doona etc we are used to it so showed him the FAA sticker that it’s approved so he said yes but it’s not approved by European standard and finally I showed him the European certification but then he said that they don’t allow any rear facing car seats! He actually showed us in his iPad something stating that and so did the chief of cabin. In the end they moved us to the front row with a bassinet.

Anyone ever heard of this? How does that make sense?? Our baby is 9 months old and according to both eu and us regulations he would need to be in a rear facing seat.

Apperently it is written on their website. The guy on the plane said that it was a new regulation as of a few months ago. Still doesn’t make sense to me since European countries also advise people to keep babies in rear facing seats for as long as possible and there are even countries in Europe where kids stay that way until 4 years old!

I love Virgin Atlantic, but unfortunately will not be flying with them again with a baby.

PSA: I flew with frozen milk in a bag, and the bag was pulled aside. The TSA agent said frozen things are officially allowed and if I put them separately in a bin, they'll go straight through.

Does anyone have experience with bringing an infant car seat on empty seat next to you for infant lap in Europe (Alitalia, Air Europa & Iberia specifically)?

We do it with Delta all the time. Hopefully will work there too

Tried it with both, the airbag seat belt and the extender. It was more secure with the regular airbag seatbelt then with the  extender. Sorry  No pix.

It went over the bar and I made it very tight it couldn’t move.

Dangerous to use an airbag seatbelt on a carseat without the extender. Definitely against their policy.
