Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

LOL indeed. Reminds me of a line from years ago about how people should be amazed that they're in a "tin can" at over 30K feet going over 500 MPH and should be screaming in amazement at how fantastic and astounding it is. Instead we get adults like in the article "crying like babies" and totally oblivious to the miracle that is modern flight.

My child is turning two in July and am contemplating if I should go on vacation before her birthday. The dates work out better for August but would like to save on the third ticket. What is the risk of flying with a  2 and a week old baby on lap? I've flown multiple times with my child and never had to verify age. Domestic flight.

Will you also postpone their birthday party? Most kids by the time they turn 2 will happily tell anyone who asks them (or doesn't ask them) that they are now 2.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Interestingly, we had the opposite problem. Booked a ticket with my kid when she was 2.25 year old but not tall enough to look it, and they drove us crazy regarding our number of carryons (budget airline) until they realized we had a full ticket for her...

We will celebrate her Hebrew birthday which will be after we return. Besides, do they understand Yiddish? But back to my question, who is the one requiring 2-year-olds to have their own seat, is it the airlines, or is it a faa rule and the airline themselves don't really care?

Anyone have experience bringing a car seat into B777 business class on Air France? There’s no consistent info on their website or from their customer support.

Maybe when she's 10 she can also sit on your lap.

I've been asked but never had with me. They just say "make sure to bring it next time"

It's definitely 10% for Etihad flights. But I just had similar story with flying blue. They charged 10% for AF flight but significantly more for VS flight. Try calling Elal and adding through them.

UPDATE:  Elal will not add infant as its ticketed  through Etihad. I payed 74,160 miles for premium economy for adult + $70 taxes and fees. For lap child Ibwas charged 26,273 miles + $40 taxes and fees. I don't understand how they got to that  number. I was assuming it would  be 10% . I was told it varies by  partner. After many HUCA's this was the cheapest price I was given

I am a father traveling domestic with an infant to meet my wife, do I need anything more than a copy of bc? I don’t travel often please excuse my newbie q
Also the travel agent by mistake put infant on wife’s ticket as well as mine, she is traveling earlier, is that going to be a problem if she shows up without baby?

Should not be problem for your wife to travel without the baby however you should have a letter signed by your wife to travel authorizing you to travel with the baby
You never know when some gate agent will decide you are trafficking....
