Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

There was some trick with BA when flying AA to only attach the infant at the airport. Do i remember right? or should I just attach when booking with ba for extra points

If you have a lap child and are flying within the US or Canada do not mention them when booking a ticket on BA.com.  You can add them for free at the airport. There may be some small fees for Canada travel but you’ll be better off dealing with it at the airport than booking it on BA.com.

I am trying to book a vacation package on Priceline but I don't want to pay for 2yr old thru them since it doubles (they count as another person) can I call airline and add afterwards?

Lol, dunno about your kid but I'd use a carseat for Rafi no doubt.

Would take him all of 5 seconds to open an airplane seatbelt.  Besides he's much more apt to sleep in a carseat.

So buy a Scenara.

Rafi was opening airplane buckles at 12 months old, there's just no way he would stay still in a seat.  But only you know your kid.

Dan, if I am flying with an infant on my lap on an award ticket booked through ba, but I am on an aa flight-domestic, can I still add my baby at the airport for free? I am nervous to get there and run into problems at the airport. Please let me know!

Ok I need some opinions. I have an AA award flight for a total of 30k from: CDG-JFK in coach and then months later JFK-LIH also in coach.

Now I will be traveling with an infant and the aircraft that I will be on doesnt seem to have a bassinet option. So if flying with an infant is it worth it to spend the extra 30k for another seat to strap in a car-seat??
I would pay 30k AA to free my lap for 8 + 11 hours any day.

Thanks. Do they charge? I understood that with BA it's free but I'm going with SW and AA (booked with Alaskan)
