I know someone who flew his baby NYC-FLL and back for his Bris, as of now that child is still alive and doing well...

Does anyone have any information as to whether it is safe for a newborn to fly back home (1 hr. 30 min.) right after a circumcision? Thanks in advance!

Question is if it is safe to do so, not if it's possible. But maybe you are a mohel or a doctor in disguise  :D

I know someone that was on crack when there baby was born. The child is alive and doing well. So if your baby was born on crack it is OK to fly after his Bris. I hope that makes sense.
I just found a new supply of forks!

Be aware, even if you get clearance in the safety department, I think some airlines have official policies against flying babies younger than 2 weeks. So make sure not to mention the baby's age. (I don't think entering his date of birth on the ticket will mess you up. Just don't ask about it, cause they might say no.)

I just asked a Mohel, he said he doesn't see any reason why not.

Thank you, beeweegee!

I asked Rabbi Shimi Hess (Mohel in Lakewood) and he told me that if it's a standard Bris than it's not a problem (albeit flying the next day), but if the Aralah is small, it might be an issue. (I don't know reasons, I'm just repeating what he told me.

Thank you, YitzyS!

Yes, thank you, as a public service announcement for whoever reads this thread down the road, you *might* need a doctor's note for your infant. You'll probably also need a copy of the birth certificate (if the newborn is traveling as a lap child).

US Airways says: "We will accept an infant as young as 2 days old." (no mention of doctor's note)
http://www.usairways.com/en-US/traveltools/specialneeds/children.html?re=1

American Airlines says: "Infants are accepted two days after delivery, however, at least seven days is recommended." (no mention of doctor's note)
https://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/specialAssistance/childrenTraveling.jsp?anchorLocation=DirectURL&title=children

Delta says: "If you're traveling with a newborn, Delta and Delta Connection® Carrier flights require an approval letter from a physician that states it’s appropriate for the newborn to fly. The following infant age restrictions apply to all Delta and Connection Carrier flights: ... Delta(DL) & DL Connection Carriers ... Less than 7 days ... Letter of approval from physician."

Ask a doctor or mohel

Of course, I asked! The pediatrician says it shouldn't be any problem.

I was looking for success or horror stories to help me make the best possible decision.

Yes, I did a lot of searching and didn't see anything about flights getting diverted, problems from cabin pressure issues, etc.

I just wouldn't want to put my child through the possible awful discomfort after a day like that.

3 days after my daughte was born we flew to a siblings wedding. Southwest required a Doctor's note saying it was OK.

My baby was in the NICU for a week getting oxygen supplements for what the doctor called "standard transitional issues" (some babies take some time transitioning from womb to regular air). I called the NICU and asked them if I could fly a few days later (approx. day 10) and they said that there is absolutely no problem, but they don't recommend any baby getting exposed to the germs that are prevalent in airports.
