Flying Back Home After Circumcision
« on: April 15, 2015, 07:41:27 AM »
Does anyone have any information as to whether it is safe for a newborn to fly back home (1 hr. 30 min.) right after a circumcision? Thanks in advance!

Ask a doctor or mohel
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I just asked a Mohel, he said he doesn't see any reason why not.

Just on the note of babies flying: My pediatrician always said to wait until the babies had their first shots (2 months mark) to fly. But then again, I do agree:

which mohel ?
I don't want to say, as he is a close relative of mine and i don't want to give away my identity. But he's well known and has been doing brissim for 30 years.
Either way, one should not seek advice like this on an anonymous online forum - call a doctor or mohel that you know and trust.

my baby had shots right when he was born in the hospital, and waiting 2 months is ridiculous

I don't think the 2 months is ridiculous but the "flying without shots". With my children they got them after 6-8 weeks thus we flew then. Others get them sooner and fly sooner but flying (or doing too much other stuff) without shots can be risky.

The problem is when everybody becomes mohelim and doctors (not to mention rabbanim, lawyers, social workers, sociologists, etc. etc.)
If you don't care why would you comment?

I'll play rabbi, lawayer, doctor on this forum, but I'll never play mohel...

I asked Rabbi Shimi Hess (Mohel in Lakewood) and he told me that if it's a standard Bris than it's not a problem (albeit flying the next day), but if the Aralah is small, it might be an issue. (I don't know reasons, I'm just repeating what he told me.
