The 10,000 miles you earn while flying when used for NY-DTW (for example) can be worth more than this roundtrip in business cost to europe rt

Anyone try seeing if the AARP discount works on any other fares? Are they actually limiting to only flights to Europe? T&C says it can be used on AA code share flights as well.
