able to downgrade to a no AF version, but still allowing me to transfer TY points to travel partner?

If You mean to the regular thank you card ? Then the answer is no you can’t transfer points, you can gift (transfer) to another TY account up to 100k per year. And you can use the points to book travel at 1cpp , and you can transfer to jetblue at a bad ratio

any experience with having AF waived (+/- spending additional monies) after year 1on the Premier? With the Citi AA card, their policy is very liberal.
