Got declined for Premier, despite FICO >800, under 5/24, etc. any tips on reconsideration? Call now or wait for letter?
Always call

I signed up for the premier card a week before the 80k offer was published, I still didn't spend the $4000 to receive the 60k which I signed up for, could I downgrade now the card for a rewards+ and then apply again for a premier in order to receive the 80k bonus?

Got charged AF they refuse to waive/statement credit.
No retention offers available. Called 4 times.
Which card do you recommend downgrading. Currently have citi dividend and some AA cards with them

Rewards+ & custom cash are decent options

no downgrading wont help, you still will have to wait 24 months. but you can call and ask for them to match the new offer and they might offer you something.

No retention offer on premier. How does downgrading work at Citi? Does it count towards max number of new cards? Does it ruin ability to get the bonus in future for the new downgraded card type?
Thanks

When you say transfer are you referring to re-allocating credit from one card to another? If so, the answer is no.

One way to get around this is that you CAN do product changes with Citi, so if you have multiple cards with varying credit lines you can PC as necessary.

have an old premier open for a few years.
Planning to apply for a new one.
Do I have to wait for bonus on the new one to hit before I cancel the old card?

I would think the eligibility check would be performed on the date you apply for the credit card, but this is just a guess. Just to be safe, I'd keep the first card open until the 2nd bonus posts. The only scenario where I could see you being in a bit of a pickle is if your first card's annual fee is going to post soon.

Citi tends to be generous with their retention offers, so you could give them a ring and see what's available too

Applied in Oct 2021 and they just told me that not eligible for bonus as I closed premier account in dec 2019. I didnt close it, I downgraded then to double cash. After speaking with supervisor she said system not allowing to change she will escalate it and I should receive letter of decision. Anyone else have such issue?

The rule of thumb that I've heard is that if the product-change results in a new card number then for the purposes of bonus eligibility Citi's system treats it as a closure. Did you double-cash have the exact same number as your Premier or was it something new/different?

Don’t recall if account number changed. I hope I will be able to get them to add the offer.

if I closed a citi premier a little over a year ago I can't get the bonus again?
if I still have 1 open and got the bonus over 24 months ago I can still apply for another of the same card and get the bonus?
