I signed up for my first Amex card, the Everyday, 2 or 3 months ago. Before that, I'd only had a basic Visa card for 9 years. My credit is very good, got accepted for Ink Plus last month no problem. Would it be safe to try applying for this now? And more importantly, to then pay off my 3k in tuition with it to meet the spend? Or is that likely to trigger a FR?

9 years good credit. 2 new cards. You'll likely get approved and paying off tuition IMO shouldn't be a problem.

I would say you are safe given your credit history. No one can know for sure though.

I doubt it would be a problem considering your credit score is good and a long credit history.

Why downgrade? Just open an everyday and transfer the points. That way you at least get a sign-up bonus.

BUMP . I just want to clarify my question. I am relatively new in the CC game and only have a few years of credit history, though very good credit history. I was clearly targeted for this offer but does that mean they realize how little history I have? Does being targeted imply being preaprooved?
