Supposedly Verizon will not allow a BB on their network  unless it a Verizon one. Anyone know anything about this?

Firstly Verizon is a CDMA carrier, which means any GSM phone, such as this one, wouldn't be technically compatible (different frequencies, protocols etc.).

On top of this, Verizon only allows devices listed in its database (meaning devices manufactured specifically for their network, running their software etc.) to be activated on their network.

I know back in the day VZW allowed other CDMA phones with an MSL.  When did that change?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

They officially still do, but they won't do it for you in a store, and they won't support it if it isn't a Verizon branded phone. So even if you get a phone rep to do it, you might have provisioning issues with roaming and/or data.
