I was hoping it’s unnecessary to mention that it’s not with UR/Amex. Those are cash bookings.

You can get e+ at checkin, now with covid I think you are required to upload your docs to check-in online.
No upgrades.

if its not originating in YUL / YYZ, there is a better chance to select a good seat at check in, since its more than 24 hours before the long flight.

Good point, how do you checkin online to TLV, need to upload docs first and they approve? With some other airlines, I found that it doesn't work as advertised.

I've not done it but no reason it won't work. Watch the seats on your app carefully, a good seat like an exit row may open if the passenger gets upgraded. You should be able to switch right on the app.

Probably up to 50k a year. Is AA gold for 30k worth it? What about JetBlue Mosaic for 50k? Are there others in this spending range?
