looking to go to ANC from NYC then back from YVR in August. From what I've read, the best option would be to use Lifemiles or Turkish miles on United/AC. Any thoughts or tips?

Means that US airlines over the summer do not really release partner awards on hot routes (ALASKA) and so you’re highly unlikely to find anything going into or coming out of alaska, IME. I would just stick with redeeming through Chase portal, you’re likely gonna gonna find good deals at end of summer rates, and you get miles and status credit

You can always try, I would go with aircanada. They will have united and air canada flights so you’ll have the best chances at finding something

When you say redeeming through chase portal do you mean using the chase points at checkout or transferring to an airline?

Using at chase portal at 1.5x, if there is no partner availability then that’s your best bet, which is a pretty good fall back to have. But if there is then you have to do the math (of the whole ticket not just a one way for each segement)

Got it, I do not have the sapphire currently so my best option is amex points transferred to an airline or cash.

Booked a RT on AA in J to TLV using AMEX BP (cash price ~$4,600).

After booking I realized that return flight would end up extending my 17 Tammuz fast, so I would rather change to the next day (after the fast).

AA says all changes only through travel agent. AMEX travel is quoting over $4,000 to change to next day.

Can AA touch the ticket after travel has started?

In case I can't change the return flight to the next night, is there any way to leave the return unused (for use at a future date), while I book something else?

I would like to book Lufthansa flying out of FRA-TLV at 2pm, however only 1015am is available with Award, could I book the early one and claim that I missed flight so they’ll put me on standby and hope it gonna work or it’s a crazy idea?(booking with air Canada miles)
