I will do that.  It would be comforting to know though that there is no airline policy against it.
In the worst case scenario once in lhr u can request Ur luggage it might take a little while but they can get it for you, a friend of mine did it once.

In these situations there usually isn't any company policy and it's up to the check in agent. As long as he's not a @#$%& he should do it for you although you probably shouldn't mention your intentions to the agent.
There can't really be a policy against it, as people make legit connections and take their luggage and recheck it.

I booked BA revenue in Dec.  TLV-LHR-BOS RT.  At the time the plan was to visit relatives in LHR so we chose a 20hr connection.  Now said relative is not going to be in town.  Any way, any point in trying to change to an earlier connection?

Might depend on how you booked it. I recently tried taking an earlier BA flight (revenue) when I arrived to the airport (LHR) really early, they told me I can only be rebooked on an earlier flight if I booked directly with BA, which I hadn't.
However, that was in the airport so YMMV.

Flying ewr to dps via hkg using AA miles. Ewr to dps is biz and hkg to dps is economy. I have a 4 hour connection between flights, which baggage allowance do I go according to? Do I need to recheck my bags?

Return flight im using AS miles to fly cx  dps to hkg economy with layover for 3 days then hkg to ewr on biz. What a pile my baggage allowance be for this? Do I get the business baggage allowance for the dps hkg flight?

Thanks

Anyone have experience flying with United and checking a bag that is bigger than 62 inches (lenght + height + width)?
Do they enforce this restriction?
How much do they charge for an oversize case? (flying J)

It always does not hurt to ask once you get to the airport.

I am booked on a one way ticket - JNB-LHR on SA, then a 12:35 hour layover, then LHR-FRA on LH, an overnight 10 hour layover and then FRA-ORD on UA.

Will my luggage get checked all the way through from JNB to ORD?

IYH, my son will be spending the next academic year studying at a yeshiva in Israel.
Thinking about revenue ticket.  If I book him one-way BOS-TLV, it's about $685; round-trip, $950.
Thing is, the calendar for the return only goes out ~330 days, and he may be there longer than that.
I understand that I can pay the change fee of ~$300 at some later date, but that kind of defeats the purpose of buying the RT now.
Alternatively, if the airline changes the flight schedule by more than a few minutes, I'm optimistic that I can petition them to change the date to something that will be preferable.
The question is, what's the chance of a such a schedule change between now and say March 2017, and do you think that chance varies by airline?
We're thinking of AC and LX, maybe UA.
(I realize this question is asking for opinion/guesstimate, but you all have lots of experience to inform those opinions.)

Just flew LHR - ORD on UA J.
First time flying J international and I'll confess I did it mainly for the extra baggage allowance.
When I chose the seats in united.com, it showed a three cabin aircraft and I chose row 6 which was the front row of business. It turned out to be a two cabin and we were in row 6 which was the back row of business.
Not that it makes much difference but was wondering if this is usual and if the business seats on a three cabin are any better than those on a two cabin?

Welcome to the States!
After you coming this way at all?

I assume in a 2 cabin, business would be better than in a 3 as it's marketed as "business/first". But I'm sure the pros know better.

No taking out liquids, computers.

Get to leave shoes on, jacket on, belt etc.

Makes life easier and quicker
