If its the last flight of the day, you definitely should not. Happened to a friend here in CLE and they said that TSA or whoever has to handle the luggage was gone for the day.

And YMMV, sometimes they end up leaving on time. You can track where the previous flight is coming from to get an idea of the accuracy.

Don't know much about upgrades and am seeking expert advice here!

Currently rebooked from cancelled DL flight on DL. They can rebook me on a partner as it get's in earlier (cancelled flight was mechanical). Expertflyer is showing 4 seats in J. Flight would be Sunday night. The plan would be to use flying blue miles to upgrade the Air France full-fare Y ticket that DL would put me on. Is that how it works/does that make sense?

And what are the upgrade chances, roughly?

i was looking for a flight on Priceline that i had seen on the matrix. i happened to come across a flight that wasn't there (on ITAMatrix) that's half the price. i'm wondering what's wrong with it.
