Thanks.
I got the combination I want on Matrix.
But I can't access the power tools.  My computer doesn't let me go to your link.
This is for my daughter, and I told her to talk to a TA before I posted here. But her friend's TA doesn't seem to be able to do this.
The TA found the combo, but it was  more expensive than on Matrix and much more expensive than the alternatives.  So they left it that they would take the connecting flights in both directions.  This morning the TA sent the itinerary and it was the desired one!  Stop off in Zurich for 4.5 hours on the way to TLV, non stop on United on the way back. For the same price as I saw it on Matrix yesterday.
Don't understand, but happy with the results.
Thanks.

My flight was initially supposed to have a 90-minute layover in YYZ and now shortened just over an hour.

My concern is that with even a slight delay, I could miss the flight to TLV (on that note, is there special Israeli-security screening in YYZ for flights going to TLV?)

They only fly once daily from YYZ to TLV

Should I try flying on a much earlier 630am flight? would they allow me to change for free?

I do see that El Al flies YYZ-TLV one hour later. In case of a delay from MIA to YYZ would Air Canada hold their TLV plane or accommodate me on El Al?

This issue is obviously compounded.. as this flight is Thursday.. meaning I would be stuck in Toronto till Sunday night.. and only arrive to Israel on Monday.
Putpac, they'll change the ticket for you

Do airlines generally charge a service fee for tickets purchased at the airport?
Specifically if anyone knows if UA charges any fees to purchase tickets at TLV check-in counter, I would greatly appreciate if they can let me know.
TIA

Don’t know about United, however Spirit actually charges a special fee to book flights online, which can be avoided by booking in the airport (go figure).

Is there any kind of insurance out there that will cover date changes on a ticket?

I know that I need to travel NYC-TLV in the next 2 weeks I’m just not exactly sure when and won’t know until the last minute. Any ideas?

It’ll be expensive then, that’s why I want to buy it now.

What makes you say that?

You can get return airfare leaving NYC tonight to TLV coming back next week (or anytime after Saturday night) for ~$1000 direct flights (or $600+ for stopover flights).

It’s not any cheaper to book now for flights in 2 weeks.

Changing a trip to family member (not on the reservation) medical emergency. United says to put down $200 for the change fee for each passenger, and then ask for a refund online. Does that make sense? I just don't want to put down hundreds of dollars for each passenger, and then told I'm not eligible for a refund.

ETA: Nevermind, my travel insurance will for sure cover up to $250 change fee per person, so I guess I'll fall back to them if necessary.

UA told me the same thing a few weeks ago and we paid the $300 x2 and asked for refund online and got the refund

Start with airline baggage services desk to create claim, then AA.com/PPQ to file claim.

AA sending me reimbursement check for damaged Doona  :)
