I don't think Kayak would help at all. They are a search engine that points you to travel sites. Their FAQ says as much.

Just found the following on DOT's web site:

"Does the 24-hour refund/reservation requirement apply to tickets purchased or reserved through a travel agent or online travel agency?

No, the 24-hour refund/reservation requirement for airlines does not apply to tickets booked through online travel agencies, travel agents, or other third-party agents.  However, these agents are free to apply the same or similar procedures to provide equivalent or similar customer service."

I guess sites like Expedia offer the refund, Arangrant doesn't care about customer service, just a quick buck.

Seems like I'm not gonna get my refund.

Any suggestions from the DDF gurus???

If it is far out enough maybe wait for a schedule change and then say it doesn't work for you and ask to cancel.

Does anyone know if this works? I've done it with united.

IF you don't need the money currently then you have nothing to lose if you wait until a few days before departure

Never use you points for a Cap1 booking, always book with money to get the 2x or 5x points on the purchase, then use the pay yourself back to cover the charge with your points.

I consistently see people on here booking travel through 3rd party sites such as Expedia, Priceline, Kayak, etc. Dan also always puts links to Priceline when posting flight deals. What is the advantages to using them vs direct with the airline? All ive experienced is that they only add complications when issues arise.

Only advantage is usually a few dollars
Dan usually says if is available on airline website
Regarding elal often it is because their website glitches with partner flights

some of them (Expedia, priceline and more) offer free online cancellation within 24 hours (until the end of the next business day so it could be closer to 48 hours), while with airlines like EL AL you'll need to call them.

There's also some tickets which airlines wouldn't show like very long layovers, tickets with multiple airlines etc.

Random Question. If i check in a suitcase with a mileage ticket, then cancel my ticket, would the suitcase still go? is this a hack for free same day shipping? as long as you have someone at destination that can do pickup.

Technically the bag should not be loaded until the passenger is boarded
Internationally they will generally pull the bag
Domestic if it was loaded will probably not be pulled

In order to cancel the ticket you値l need to cancel check in. I知 assuming they値l need to pull the bag to cancel check in

What does that mean "cancel check in"? I have cancelled my flight while sitting post security multiple times. I cancelled it online/in-app like I would cancel any other ticket.

If you booked directly with the airline, canceling the ticket usually cancels check in automatically. If you booked through an OTA like Priceline or Expedia, you need to cancel check in through the airline before you can cancel the ticket.

lol, was waiting for this. Yes, and...
The specifics of this case is that I bought a ticket for my son, and he asked for me to walk him to the gate which I was going to do by buying my ticket with mileage and then canceling after he boards, so being that I have the CC with said airline, I was wondering what would happen if I checked in his suitcase for him under my name. Anyway, I don't think I'll be so cheap as to risk it for $40, but that is the backstory to this question.

To operate? yes
on time? no
They can move flights earlier or later and there is nothing you can do

Amex travel says 24 hr rule does not apply to new tickets booked if even just partially using credit from older cancelled tickets. In this case they'll only give till the end of the day. (Is this in compliance?) It's nearly impossible to convert such credits (Amex FTCs) to ETC.
