if I book a points flight from a gold or plat or 1k member with united or others how can I get free bags & econ plus without them flying with me????

From my experience (last summer), booking on United with my card gave my dad free bag and, wait list, and then upgrade to first.

Ime just booking from a premium members account, using their miles gave everyone free bags and econ plus without the member flying with them.
This was over Pesach

It used to be like this but recently changed.

You no longer get the status from the booked account. It now goes according to the flyer.
