 Data point: I had a cert that expired almost 2 months ago. I emailed them a request to extend the cert and they issued me a new one valid for a another whole year.

This is my first post on this site so I'm sorry for the newbie questions.  What does "bump" mean? If one buys a free night certificate, does the reservation have to be made in the account holder's (the one selling the cert) name? How would that work when checking into the hotel?  Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. The seller makes the reservation in his name and adds you as an additional guest. No issues checking in

This isn't exactly on topic, but does anyone know how to get the fee waived for the first year with the Ritz Carlton credit card. A few years back, we had an invitation code and my husband got the fee waived for the first year. I know that code is now defunct. If anyone has any info, please reply here or pm me. I would be very grateful.
