Three-month free trial of CLEAR
CLEAR gets you through airport security in five minutes or less. It’s easy to enroll, even easier to get through security, and you get a three-month trial ($45 value) as a Gold Plus Rewards member.

Is there any advantage of having this if you already have TSA pre from global entry?

It seems that CLEAR is of no use in the tri state area. There are only a few airports that have special CLEAR lines.

Downside is that you have to enroll in auto renew.

I actually prefer using my rebates that have a few bucks on them.

Review is a little old, but to sum it up. Its only really worth it if you live a city that has Clear Kiosks and will consistently be flying through only those cities. One cool perk is that once you sign up for the free trial even after you cancel you use the Clear Kiosks at non airport locations such Citi Field or Yankee Stadium for free.

I completely agreed with the reviewer when the review was originally written. The only advantage of Clear was to jump you to the front of the PreCheck line which was always so short it wasn't worth much. Lately it seems the PreCheck lines have been getting longer and longer as more people enroll, so while we're not quite there yet for me I can see it eventually being worth it. Incidentally, for whatever reason they seem to be giving PreCheck to elderly infrequent fliers (my folks got it without asking, for example). This destroys much of the value of the PreCheck line, which used to be that it was composed entirely of frequent travelers who could be depended on to rapidly and professionally load their bags on the x-ray line, remove all metal, and pass through the metal detector the first time. Now the PreCheck line seems to be plagued by the same morons who seem completely flummoxed by the entire concept of the security process. Last week we all patiently stood behind an older gentleman who went through the metal detector over and over and just couldn't seem to understand why it kept going off while the TSA staff repeatedly asked him if he had any metal on him. Finally he has the brilliant thought that perhaps his artificial hip was setting it off? You think!

Good to know, thanks for the tip.

Free six month trial for CLEAR with code: CLEARFD9223

Although CLEAR isn't available at my home airport (ORD), I just used it in Minneapolis over Memorial Day weekend. It was great. It was also very quick and easy at Target Field. I am not so sure I would pay money for it but it's definitely worth the free trial.

Are there any credit cards that offer this? And does this 6 month code still work?

for people who are scared of auto renewal you can always go in and turn it off. and if you happen to get charged you can call and ask them to cancel and get a refund.

the six month code is no longer active.

i actually signed up for green card, it was on the day of my re renewal. i quickly turned it on off. later on that day it still charged my card. i called i canceled and they refunded me. they said my account will still be active with the free version that can be used at stadiums.

when i received the card i went on clear to reactivate and there was a promo "sign up for one year for $99. so with the $100 clear credit from the newly refreshed green amex i got it for free.
