LOL.
There's a reason they're so cheap. Never heard of "drive it like it's stolen?"

Like the old joke goes-

Buying a rental car is like going to a brothel for a wife. Anything thats been driven so hard by so many people, you dont want to put your key into!

However, I kind of took back that theory. Nowadays most used cars on the market are leases, which people treat like crap anyways. At least with the rental company you know they took care of the car, like oil changes etc.

Better off brushing up on your negotiating skills, buying new, and maintain it for 10 years before selling it for a third of the original sticker price.

anyways i was looking at the hertz website and saw  nice deals look at :
https://www.hertzcarsales.com/vehicle/details/14375213
17k miles for $12k and with 12k warranty.
one of the things that cached my eyes was the 1.9% financing for 48 month.

i learned all the lease formulas etc... but usually found an unreliable sales people

Or buy 3 years old and sell it a year or two later for a negligible loss.

If you go thru a dealer (as most people do) include the profit he's making when you buy and sell which makes a big difference when its just a year or 2
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

i'm shocked

I don't TRASH it. I'm so good to own my car, my version of treating a rental bad is flooring it on the highway. Meanwhile others do a lot worse. I wouldn't buy a rental.

Alot of truth to the leased cars, you have no idea if maintenance was done.
Also, not every rental is used by a 21 year old joyriding. Location of the car could help the decision too

How do we know that maintenance on car rentals is up to par?

A good mechanic is very helpful in buying a new car as well.

:) well i just spent a week in FL with a rental car driving around with my family, don't think i passed the 75 mph, i guess big percentage of the rental goes to people traveling with their families on vacation, always look at bright side :) or maybe i'm too naive.
did i mention i have formula 3 driving training & certificate!
