Gift cards
You can buy gift cards at samsclub.com to get the Amex credit. Samsclub.com sells many physical and egift cards at a discount. You can also buy Sam's Club gift cards at face value with free shipping. Sam's Club gift cards can be used either at Sam's Club in club, samsclub.com, at Walmart stores and walmart.com.
Gift of membership cards can be used as regular $45 gift cards. If you ship these to most states, sales tax is added to your order but your card will still only be worth $45. You will get your full value only if you can ship them to one of the few states where sales tax is not added.
For a completely free purchase, use the Sam's Club Android app to buy two $10 Sam's Club gift cards, or four of them if you are splitting the payment between two enrolled Amex cards. (There is a minimum quantity of 10 cards if you order these on the web site; the Android app does not have this minimum.)

As an FYI, the few that did have tax charged on them, I ultimately got the tax refunded in store. It was a pain, not recommended.

What tax are they adding on ? I did some orders through CA to NY & at final checkout it said 0 sales tax.

Maybe they changed it recently... But a few months ago they were charging you tax on the membership... Since technically you are buying a gift of membership....

I ordered the GCs to the wrong address and just called in to see if they could change the address- they said they can only cancel it. I messed this up, right?

Never did this yet. Have 3 cards with nothing in particular to buy. Do i just get a samsclub gift card to use in walmart? Do u make 3 seperate  $20 orders?

They don't currently have $20 or $40 SC GC's. With android app you could buy $10 GC's with no minimum required. Or you could get the $45 gift of membership ($5 out of pocket)

Wondering same thing. Just made 18 orders from new account. I got the confirmation Amex emails. The orders say "exception". I called in to verify, they said I can verify 3 now and the rest tomorrow. Waiting for happy ending...
