Correct. If you are past the 30min mark when returning it, your CC will be charged accordingly.

You have to enter your credit card info to take a bike, and as long you bring it back in the half hour they won't charge it.

24 Hrs. as long as you checkin every 1/2 hour.

Used it for a couple of errands in town today. Thanks OP! Note, that you must have at least 5 minutes between rides (on the same credit card), but I had no problem checking in and checking out a new bike instantly using a new CC and phone number.

I used it yesterday without waiting 5 minutes or switching cc

It's not really that useful to most people (I think). If biking through the city is not part of your routine then just because it's free doesn't provide any incentive to use it. I'd still rather walk (or take taxi) from A->B as planned rather than try to figure out where the closest station is to A and to B, which I've never paid attention to before.
