there's mandatory liability insurance so it usually comes out to about 30$/day (automatic transmission + Israeli citizenship). If you book thru priceline be prepared to pay the extra 14$/day for that liability and also 18% VAT. If you are not israeli you won't have to pay 18% VAT - show tourist visa to get that waived.

Even for collision they ask for a letter from the credit card saying that your card actually covers. IME more then once  they let me bring it on return.

YMMV, recently they have gotten way better with it but at the airport it still happens pretty often, probably an upsell method.
