Jewish Music (New CDs, hock, and opinions)
« on: May 20, 2015, 10:50:34 PM »
I think it's about time to start a thread in which Jewish music fans can turn to for all info that pertains to the Jewish Music (herein JM) industry, and to voice their opinions about everything JM. There's a thread for Music Videos ( http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=12202.msg1011279#msg1011279 ) and a thread for Sheet Music ( http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=25484.msg1051954#msg1051954 ) but nothing for just random "What do you hold about the fact that Yochi Briskman put Hastura and Hishbati on his new Relax CD?". And so I created this thread. I know that many JM fans turn to Twitter and other social media outlets for their hock, but DDF is really an ideal lounge to have such discussions.

Give me an example of a CD that you really enjoyed and I'll try to suggest something. There are tons of styles of CDs.

The last 2 CDs that I bought and really enjoyed were Benny Friedman's shabbos CD and the rechnitz CD (just realized it was less than a year ago when I bought my last CD)

The second track on Motti Illowitz's CD is a very interesting (Hartzig) song. It a story of a girl who's mother was blind, and she was extremely embarrassed to ever be seen with her mother. She never invited friends to her house, and she cried to her mother not to go to PTA. Eventually she got married and moved far away from her mother. At the end of the song, the mother writes her a letter telling her that really it was the girl who was born blind, but the mother didn't want her daughter to suffer so she gave her away her eyes! (I don't know if that's medically possible, but in songs anything is possible).

There's nothing recent that resembles Rechnitz's CD, but Benny Friedman maybe. If you like Benny's voice, get his new CD "Kol Hanishama Sheli". If you like mixes, there are about 5 mixes that came out recently, most recently Project Relax 3.

Not trying to ruin people's parnassah but there are many wonderful cd's which you can listen to on spotify even new ones like for example rechnitz is there as is Eli marcus.  (Apparently they are getting paid royalties unlike from groovesharkk which just got shut down.)
I bought the new project relax today with a gc from sbs.

It's an old story with a couple the man gave his eye sight to her and when she was able to see she left him...

There is nothing to it, why wouldn't he?
They are 2 popular sings so why bot throw it into the mix.
I would rather discuss why Shwekey thinks he has has a chance without Yochi!

Does anyone watch הקול הבא?
Do you know what happened to the fact that the next stage was supposed to begin on ל״ג בעומר ?
I have enjoyed it but found the judging to be very inconsistent

It's from Yisroel Adler. I didn't see it in Lakewood yet.

They are two song that have been featured on countless CDs and are already coming out of everyone's most peoples ears. He also put on other songs that are almost as overused, like El Hanar Hazeh and Keser. Yochi usually mixes in beautiful songs that no one heard of to spice it up. This time it's one predictable song after another. (I happen to really like the singing and the arrangements, but I was disappointed by the song selection.)

I would rather discuss why Shwekey thinks he has has a chance without Yochi!
I'm so curious to see who's going to produce his concert and his next album. Will he do it himself, in which case everyone will be surprised if it's not a dismal failure. Will he go to Schnitzler, Fadida, or Yossi Green? I'm holding my breath to find out.

Mostly Music already has it for sale online (not pre-order). I just didn't see it in Lakewood. Many times Lakewood gets it a day or two after Brooklyn.
