Related music trivia fact:

While Shea Berko is the one who sings at weddings, it was his brother Avrumi, born six years after Shea, who was more renowned for singing as a child. He starred as the child soloist on numerous albums, singing for Michoel Schnitzler (Z’chor Rachamecha on his album Uvruchim Heim), Lipa Schmelczer (Al Tastir on Letova), and Isaac Honig (many songs on “Beim Rebben’s Tish”).

Yaakov Shwekey was almost the vocalist on the Metalish project.
(They were later featured on his "Lo Yaavod" and "Osim Tshuvah.")

•   Cantor R’ Duvid Werdyger recorded his first album in just 5 hours.

For a solo voice performance, was that unusual at the time? (Or was it accompanied?)

•   The first time Isaac Honig sang on a tape, he sang thinking it was just a tryout. That recording was released.

Ben Gibbard's "I Will Follow You into the Dark" (usually credited to his band, though he's the only one
on it) was recorded unintentionally. It's a gold-selling single and the band's most-played song on radio.

Trivia: According to Wikipedia, Duvid Werdyger's 1968 album "Bobover Niggunim" featured vocals from the current Bobover Rebbe.

"His" Osim Teshuva was on Metalish II...

All I know is what you find when you Google [shwekey metalish].
That gets you the version found on Shwekey's "Kolot."

Edit:

So it's a Carlebach composition? I assume the version found on this album (1999, or possibly 2006 - Amazon
has multiple dates; maybe the second is for the CD version?) isn't the same as the one from Kolot in 2014
(judging by when Kolot-related stuff went up on YouTube).

Ohr Chodosh vol. 1, on which Shmelkie's Niggun is featured, was first released in 1971. However, in Marvelous Middos 3, Shnookie Schapiro goes back in time to 1968, three years before Ohr Chodosh's release, and Shmelkie's Niggun is playing at a chasunah.

Thanks. I'm not so much of a Baruch Levine guy, but seems like he has written far more songs for others than I knew of. The man writes beautiful music.

1. I don't think it's Carlebach. I haven't listened to that album in ages, but IIRC all the other songs were Carlebach but not that one.

2. '99 sounds right, I used to listen to it a lot that year in yeshiva.
