I'd suggest emailing the distributor or producer

I was planning on buying it because I loved his Purim one, but I didn't because he has (at least) one purely goyish song on there, and I don't want my kids listening to Goyish music. However, if there are really good reviews on it I would consider buying it and just deleting that (those?) song(s).

Anyone have any feedback to share? Also, are there other goyish songs on there besides Candlelight? (Yes, just because it was covered by the Maccabeats doesn't make it Jewish in my perspective...)

What's your geder of "goyish"? There are songs on there that aren't from religious sources.

No wonder that doesn't show a composer.

I was impressed with his creativity covering some classic songs. He gave them a whole new sound.

Candlelight is a contemporary hit song. Its style and its contemporary era are too much for me, and for sure for my kids. I would not object to a cover of a song like "You raise me up", if my kids would not know that it is not Jewish. (Rav Mattisyahu Soloman wrote that knowing that the source is non-Jewish makes it more problematic)

Interestingly, Benny already has notes from Candlelight on his album "Nagilah V'nismicha". When it came out, I actually made for myself a "clean" version, using sound editing software to remove those interludes. Yes, I was much more bored back then...

Did you do that for all the goyish bridges on that album or just candlelight?

Light One Candle from Peter, Paul and Mary. Peter Yarrow wasn't frum

Depending on his geder: Miracle by Matisyahu

Lots of Latkes - Jill Gallina isn't frum

Some other people on there who I suspect aren't frum, but don't know for sure.

Anyways - this is extremely subjective; which is why I asked what he considers "goyish"

I don't remember offhand, but chances are I didn't identify them all. I am not an expert on Goyish music.

I don't know many of those artists, but in my person perspective, Candlelight it worse than the ones I know. I don't want my kid going to school and singing the same songs as public school kids might be singing. For some reason, I think that no public school kid in the last decade walked down the street listening to "Light One Candle." But Dynamite was a hit song in a very un-Jewish way.

Not basing this on hashkafah or science. Just my personal gut feelings.

I'm completely obsessed with music. But in the year after mother :(. Does anyone have an idea for a large collection of vocal music?

This is probably why my father does not enjoy Jewish music that much. (He just doesn't listen to music at all.) He is an expert on Goyish music due to his former profession (mastering at a non-Jewish producer), and whenever he gets goyish vibes, he just turns it off.

Good vocal music is really subjective. Are you looking for just singing without a vocal beat? Or the stuff that almost sounds like real music? Also, do you want album suggestions, or a streaming platform for vocal music?

Btw, if you search “sefira” on this thread you will find some info.

Without googling it, have you ever heard the phrase "cruse of oil" before?

Doesn't get better than the Chabad Haneiros Halalu. Something for everyone in there.
