I'm searching and searching for the song "Seven Sheperds" by Chaim Dovid. I really would like to purchase it.
I taught my kids the song, and they love it. And they're hounding me to get it on our iPod.

It's the song that goes
Avraham Avinu ish chesed etc. David melech yisrael malka meshicha.

Someone please help me find it. (not the live version, the original version please)
Thx!

Yikes2179: He told me that it'll be on Google Play, as well as on iTunes, but I don't know if he'll put it there right away, or if he'll be lax as has unfortunatly become the custom in the music industry lately.
Not there yet...

In BMG, where 99% of the above crowd ends up, it's all Yiddish all the time.
And 95% of BMG can sit thru a 4+ hour levaya that's all Yiddish and understand 99% of the words.  :D

Yeshivish Yiddish is not Chassidish Yiddish

Not even close

agreed. Which makes Yonasan Shwartz's success even less relevant to the amount of Litvish Yiddish speakers.

The feeling that I get is that around 50-75% of the youngest generation in BMG understand Yiddish enough to understand all the speeches, and probably less than 25% understand proper Yiddish (like to understand R' Yomtov Ehrlich).

How about another song of the day?

HT @Baruch. It's the live version and not the one he wanted, but it reminded me of the song which is quite good! So here, have a listen and enjoy:

And Baruch: Keeeeeeeeeeeeeep searching, don't let nothing stand in your way.

Do you know the name of the album it was on?

P.S. for people watching the song: the best part of the song starts deep into the video, so listen to the whole thing  :)

The feeling I get from this conversation is that you are overstating the "Lakewood" portion of the Jewish music industry, and that the Yiddish speaking Chassidish market is bigger than you imagine.

Yosef Moshe Kahana is putting out LChaim Kumzitz 2 one of these weeks. The first one popularized Hishbati to the world.

In case anyone is interested, Dovid Stein is set to release his second album, and has already released a single from it. I happen not to be a fan, but there's people of all types and stripes...
