*RANT ALERT*
I hate these people who produce a "Sefira CD" that has just a bunch of people singing, and charge $15 for it. Can it be justified to charge the same amount as an album that has full music (which is the most expensive part of the production)? And many of these albums sound horrible. There's a great one liner that sums it up: " Sefira albums are the only type of albums that a guy could wake up in the morning and decide to put one out, and have it completely finished before he goes to sleep. And from the way that many of them sound nowadays, it seems like that's exactly what happened!" Listen up producers: it takes more talent to put out a good acapella album then it takes to put out a good music album. On an acapella album, you can't hide behind the music. If you don't have the talent to create beautiful harmonies and whatever else you need to make a nice Sefira album, please turn over and go back to sleep. Thank you.
I would like to just include a (partial) list of Sefira albums that I really do enjoy, who I think did do a great job.
Around the Campfire - Miami
Kumzitz in the Rain 1 & 2 - Doni Gross
Lev Tahor 1 & 3
Soul 2 & 3 - Ari Goldwag (#1 had too much fake music for my liking)
Heimishe Oitzros - Lechaim Music
Please let me know if there's any albums that I should check out. Thanks.
