He's scheduled to release an album right after the 3 weeks!
Oh Wow!
Any more info? Where did you get this from?

Was there any rav that ever came out with a "pesak" that it's "ausur"??
I personally asked this question to many Rabbonim (R' Belsky, R' Doniel Neustadt, R' Rephoel Kops, and many others) and they all said that it is Absolutely Assur. I've asked everyone who copies for the name of their Rov who permits it, and nobody ever gave me a name, besides one guy who told me that "he heard" that R' Shmuel Fuerst (Chicago's main Posek) is Matir. I promptly called Rabbi Fuerst and asked him if it's Mutter. He said that it is absolutely forbidden! I asked him about the heter that people say "I will never buy the CD anyways". He laughed at me and said "Why does that make it Mutter? And how in the world could you know that you'll never buy it anyways. If you have enough interest now to copy it, you may possibly one day buy it!" And he proceeded to tell me all the people who told him it's assur (I don't remember all the names, but he defiantly said R' Chaim Kanievsky and YBBCL"C R' Elyashiv Zt"l).

I am proud to say, that although I have a substantial collection of Jewish Music, I have paid for every single album and have never copied a CD. Yes, over the years it has cost me a lot of money, but I've enjoyed it immensely and I don't regret it for a second.

What a society we live in, this is איסור דאורייתא and kosher switch is L'katchila.
Going to hell many times over anyway for "stealing" music why should I stop now? (Honestly I didn't copy music for the past 2 years anyway)

I was referring to
Lol!

I wrote this in reference to a album I saw a few years ago that had a whole FAQ Halacha section enclosed which in short said that you're going to hell if you copy music, and the only time you can ever copy is if you also want to listen in your car and bought the album.
Iirc the mbd album was the wedding album which he sang with yeedle and mendy.
I once saw mbd claim that it is ossur to even make a second copy for yourself.  Obviously that seemed like a real stretch.

Whatever happened to the shtik that we are only leasing and not buying the album?

The album Miami "Mi Lashem Eilei" has a page in the booklet with letters from Poskim.

+1 I wasn't sure the name but it was a Miami album that came out in 2011 that I saw that booklet in.

All this applies when you buy/have the cd, once somene copies them onto a drive it's a big Machlokas is one has Baalus over a Dovor Ruchny.

I don't think there was Halachik basis to uphold such a lease. I spoke to a Lamdan about it (not a Posek), and he said that according to their terminology, they would have to give you back your money if you copied a CD, and they will clearly not do that (it even says in the "Shtar": The money will not be returned in ant event).

Imagine, a guy walks in to Mostly Music with an opened CD, "here's your CD, give me back my $16". When the guy asks why, he responds, "I leased it on the condition that I don't copy it. I copied it so I was Oiver on an Issur, but the lease is null and you therefore must return my money!"

I asked this precise question to R' Shmuel Fuesrt and R' Rephoel Kops, and both of them said that it's not a heter.

If anyone has a Rov that says it's Mutter, post his NAME! Don't say "I heard..." etc. If you have enough confidence on him to put your Olam Haba at stake, have enough confidence to post his name.

Like 13 years ago I used to look at frumteens.com.m at the time the anonymous moderator claimed that the artists are allowed to make a מכירה על תנאי and that it would take effect but if they don't the. There is nothing wrong with copying the album.
Based on that he claimed that if they wrote "sold on the condition not to reproduce"then it was ossur to copy it but if they wrote "it is against halacha to copy this album" then they were just making a false halachik statement and therefore it would be מותר.  I found it to be quite an interesting approach.

Iirc in the album ועיננו תראנה which was specially put out by yossi gil from Israel (he is blind and all these top singers sang as a  fundraiser for him) there was a letter from Rav usher Weiss and he said something along the lines of regarding copying כידוע יש אוסרים ויש מתירים אבל באלבום זה בפרט שיצא for such a special cause it would certainly be wrong to copy.

The מכירה על תנאי has to be a two sided תנאי. Therefore if you went ahead and copied a cd you can then go back to the store and give the cd back and demand your money back since you violated the תנאי. Being that no store will actually give you your money means it's not a real תנאי and it's therefore בטול.

I hope we can all agree that whether Halacha prohibits it or not, it's very unethical to copy CDs...?!

What should be the issur? The producers dont own the cd once you buy it. And as for infringing on someones parnassa maybe they should find a parnassa thats not contingent on people not doing what they're allowed to do.
