My personal analysis on Falkowitz's album:

-He sounds a lot more like Schnitzler than he did when he sang Gam Leshoni on Rechnitz's CD.
-His first song, which was composed by Baruch Shalom Blesofsky (composer of Yeedle's Melayim Ziv and his own CD, notably Lo Yemalet) is a smart Shtickel, to take a song style that was somewhat successful and to put it as the first track. Yesh Tikva style songs, of which there are many (including the new Micha Gamerman opening track), are already burnt toast.
-Track 10, Achake Lo, is hauntingly similar to MBD's "Pray and Sing"
-Track 4, Ani Yeshaina, is an awesome amazing song.

These are my initial thoughts.

I like the line, and I can officially use the addition of "as they say" without having to explain it :)
Hat tip?  ;)

+1. Was hoping for more of the powerful style he has in that song and I was disappointed. (I've only heard the album once, so I may be too quick to judge)

What's the story with the new Yosef Chaim Shwekey?  jewishmusic.fm is showing it but haven't managed to find it anywhere else.
Also what's up with lipa's new album? When is it being released?

It was set to have been released already, and Lipa is usually pretty on time. But I did hear a few weeks ago that he was still in studio recording, which was a warning that he is running late.

Am I the only one, or are others also not very excited for this CD?

I've never really been excited for his CDs in recent years, although I am curious to see what crazy stuff he's going to come up with this time...

I really don't like his music style, but I get his CDs because he has crazy musical talent. I only wish he would channel his talents onto something more enjoyable.

His last CD was actually very nice and a lot mellower than his previous few (besides a few songs). But the cover gave off the impression that it was worse than ever, so a lot of people got scared off.

I disagree with the "crazy musical talent" label. While I do agree he has crazy talent as a lyricist.
It's been downhill since "A Poshiter Yid" which was an amazing cd.

On a separate note, Shlomo Simcha is actively working on a new album.
Talent wise shlomo simcha is as good as anyone if not better.  What I always find is that I don't care for his song selection and he needs better composers.
Also I remember when the first Aish came out I laughed and said that until the second to last song (ani maamin) Abie managed to keep him under control and he sang and didn't scream - like his אם אין מי לי type stuff- but then he must have finally given in and let him do his thing.

Apparently one of Levi falkowitz's new songs is actually stolen from Amii Stewart.  Does anyone know who the album give credit to?

Yah I know that but as a new song I thought it fit better in this thread but now I see someone actually already posted it there.
Sorry

I agree that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to see Lips's musical talent from his last few CDs, but he definatly is still one of the most musically talented people in the Jewish music field. I know this from seeing him personally and from hearing the stuff that he does for other artists. (For example Yom Tov In The Vochen and Sendy Kendy for Michoel Schnitzler).

There's big hock about a song from Lipa's new album called Booha (Roshei Teivos for Bracha Vehatzlacha. R' Chaim Kaniyevsky Shlita started saying Booha as his Bracha.) I didn't hear the song yet, but apparently it can be taken as a Zilzul in the Kavod if R' Chaim Kaniyevsky Shlita. Menachem Toker ("The Israeli Nachum Segal") said that although he has never before boycotted a song, this song is the first. He vowed never to play this song, and he got Kol Chai to remove it from their playlist.

Anyone know the latest on Adi Ran.  He was a hit with the Israeli national religious crowd but have not heard anything from him in years.

I'm lost. How is it so terrible? Am I missing something? Is he being sarcastic and I'm just not picking up on it?
