There's big hock about a song from Lipa's new album called Booha (Roshei Teivos for Bracha Vehatzlacha. R' Chaim Kaniyevsky Shlita started saying Booha as his Bracha.) I didn't hear the song yet, but apparently it can be taken as a Zilzul in the Kavod if R' Chaim Kaniyevsky Shlita. Menachem Toker ("The Israeli Nachum Segal") said that although he has never before boycotted a song, this song is the first. He vowed never to play this song, and he got Kol Chai to remove it from their playlist.
A clarification on this story. Although it's going around that Menachem Toker was the one to boycott the song, he actually had nothing to do with it. He came out with a statement that he had absolutely nothing against the song, and it was Kol Chai who had the problem. (I verified this with someone who's friends with both Toker and Lipa).

I personally have since heard the song, and I can't figure out what's wrong with it. It seems to be praising R' Chaim Kaniyevsky Shlita.

My first immpession of Yosef Chaim Shwekey's new album is that it's refreshingly typical. Jewish music is evolving at such a dizzying pace that we don't even realize how much we miss some good old normal. It seems like a very similar CD to his last one.

His voice is great in my opinion. Very similar to his brother Yaakov, but I like his personality a whole lot better, and it comes through in his voice.

The album is crap. I'm the first to admit that. I hate it. I can enjoy some edm, but this is just awful. But that song is not disrespectful. The lyrics are respectful and not snarky in the slightest.

And is Michoel Schnitzler bad because he made a song about the Steipler? And Motti Illowitz about the Chasam Sofer? I just don't get it. If you mean something else, explain, because most people seem to think its fine.

I also hate the EDM, but I still enjoyed this album pretty much for a different reason. You hardly hear a singer nowadays that really sings with their whole heart. Lipa, although I don't like that its all his personal Shittos and tribulations, nevertheless means every note with his deapest self, and it comes out powerfully in the album.

If you don't like his shittos etc. Then isn't it worse if they come out powerfully?

Exactly. Matisyahu's latest album also has brutal honesty if you're into that.

I just downloaded the wrong album from mostlymusic.com (I bought the "instrumental" version of Benny Friedman's Kol Haneshama, instead of the regular version). Anyone know if there's any hope in getting refunded so I can buy the correct one? Or should I just buy the other one and enjoy both?

Thanks

I'm sure they'll refund you if you call them, I've had very good experiences (in general, not returns) with Mostly Music

Thanks for the advice!! I just called them and they sent me a link to download the correct CD, and said I should delete the other one.

Great service!

Did anyone hear the new Yitchok Fuchs CD?
I was addicted to his first album.
Is this one as good?
