Does anyone else feel that Y.C. Shwekeys new CD is a bunch of typical songs?

Super Speed: Yes, Yosef Chaim Shwekey's album is typical. But that's exactly what I like about it. In a world where each CD is crazier than the next, I find this album refreshingly typical. And the songs are nice.

asd: Nigun Hachochma on the new Simcha Leiner album was composed by someone Anshi Friedman. He's the same guy that composed Hinei Yomim Bo'im and Da Ki Yeish Sude for Levy Falkowitz. I never heard of him before Levy, but this guy is clearly really good.
I know him personally.
I hear he has now "shelves" full of songs.
He's also gonna have a song on Shmueli Ungar's upcoming album as reported by our "insider".

Those were my 2 favorites on levi's album.  Its exiting to see we finally have a real composer since yossi green lost his magic.

Taylor Swift is famously not on Spotify.
I would think that the heimishe singers who are making pennies as royalties would either opt out of spotify or come up with some proclamation that it is ossur to use it and it is just as bad as copying.

Pianesque - Piano renditions of Yossi Green classics, performed by Mendy Portnoy. I really like it.

From a quick listen to the samples, it would have been nicer with a real piano

If so, foolishly, IMHO.

They are making pennies either way. Their main purpose is to get their name and music out there to get hired. Streaming helps their cause, and streaming will get me to buy the album. I certainly wouldn't buy it without listening first.

Fun question: How many artists are there who's albums you'd buy as soon as released without needing to hear it?

For me it is (in no particular order):

MBD
Avraham Fried
8th Day (for now!)
Nochi Krohn (weren't expecting that, were you?)
Kol Achai (I can dream, can't I?)
An Abie Rotenburg project (From the Golden Crown to Dveykus - I'll take anything)

I'm definitely missing some, but others that come close - Shloime Gertner, Benny Friedman, Shlomo Simcha.
Used to be on the list: Lipa.

Interesting what everyone  has been saying regarding streaming(jewish music). I've been using the free trial of apple music since it came out. Can someone knowledgeable explain how this would be problematic ( from an artists standpoint)?

Do you use spotify?
I don't have a smart phone to stream music so I still need CDs to play in my car but as far as the house goes spotify is just as good as a cd.  I play from my iPad to a Bluetooth speaker and it is wonderful.
The only weakspot is a medley because it doesn't play the tracks in order.
(Based on the commercials if you don't have premium you can't choose a song but I don't know it lets me choose any song I want - although not on the android app when I tried it .)

My wife loves listening to simcha Leiner so I bought her the project relax cd.  Since then it came out on spotify and most of the time she just listens to it on spotify.
I know she would enjoy sl2 and I could buy it from mostly music with sbs credits I have but I don't see the point.  I am going to wait a few weeks to see if it comes out on spotify.  (Don't tell my wife there is a new album so she doesn't realize she is missing it  :D)

בקיצור if I was simcha leiner I would be no less upset about spotify than copying.

who decides if an album should be on spotify?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Small sample size. Artists are making more money today with the abundant streaming and stealing options. (obviously, no public data is available for Jewish music)

Abie Rotenberg published a Kiruv oriented book about baseball. See the thread http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=55386.0

I don't know if spotify is good for artists in the secular world or not.  I believe it is a debate.  I was just saying that I would guess that it is not necessarily beneficial for Jewish singers.

As far as whether or not spotify is legit as far as I know it is but that wouldn't stop singers from publishing an issur to use it.
I have a chazzunos tape of nusach for rosh Hashana I don't remember if he writes that it is ossur to borrow it at all or just that it can't be put in a gemach.  Obviously either should be legit but that doesn't stop him from coming up with his own תנאים.

Why do Jewish albums take forever to get on Itunes? Is there an exclusive that the distributors have?

Why on earth should it be אסור to listen to if the artist has agreed to put it on Spotify??
That would be like saying " You can buy my CD but you can't listen to it..."

Lipa's B Positive album was available on iTunes as soon as it was released #JustSaying
